location:
Morococala Mine, Santa Fe, Pantaleon Dalence, Oruro, Bolivia
description: The Morococala Mine, located in the Pantaleon Dalence Province of the Oruro Department in Bolivia, is part of the world-famous Bolivian tin belt situated within the Cordillera Oriental of the Andes. This tin-silver deposit formed through complex hydrothermal fluids intruding into Paleozoic metasedimentary rocks, creating rich quartz-cassiterite mineralized veins. Historically mined as an important source of tin since the mid-twentieth century, the underground workings at Morococala are famous among collectors for producing exceptional specimens of tin and phosphate minerals. Mineral enthusiasts particularly value fine, lustrous cassiterite crystals, high-grade vivianite, and rare associated phosphates recovered during mining operations over the decades.
A lustrous green slightly translucent double terminated crystal of vivianite set aesthetically up on a crystalline pyrite matrix. This is in good condition.
