An attractive large cabinet piece, the top of this botryoidal black coronadite matrix is richly scattered and almost completely covered with red lustrous tabular crystals of vanadinite to 0.5 cm in size. Colorless crystallized gypsum is present as well. This is in terrific condition and displays nicely. Great color contrast. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Jan Erik Larsen.

The geology of Taouz in southeastern Morocco is characterized by rugged desert terrain featuring Paleozoic sedimentary and volcanic rocks rich in diverse metallic mineral deposits, particularly iron and manganese oxides that form striking stalactitic and vuggy mineral formations. Historically, small scale mining and prospecting in this remote desert area date back decades, driven by both commercial extraction and a thriving local mining community. In recent years, the region has gained international renown among mineral collectors and museums for producing exceptional aesthetic specimens of vanadinite on coronadite associated rare secondary mineral species.
