Triplite

specimen number:
2351035

location:
Bimbowrie, South Australia, Australia

description:
Rich masses of triplite throughout matrix. Good example for the species. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Jack Nieburger.

Bimbowrie, located in the Olary Province of South Australia, is defined by Proterozoic metasedimentary rocks and granitic pegmatites formed during ancient regional tectonic events. Historically established as a pastoral lease and later recognized for small-scale mineral prospecting, the area gained renown among mineral collectors for its complex pegmatite pockets. Triplite occurs within these coarse-grained intrusive bodies as dark brown to reddish masses, prized by specimen collectors visiting the region's historic prospects and conservation areas.
