specimen number:
2351032
location:
Bawana Mine, Beaver Co., Milford, Utah, USA
description: The Bawana Mine, located in the Mineral Mountains northwest of Milford in Beaver County, Utah, is a classic skarn deposit formed by the interaction of intrusive rocks with carbonate strata. Historically developed for copper and iron extraction starting in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries during the active mining boom of the region, the site later gained renown among mineral collectors and researchers. It is celebrated internationally for hosting an array of rare secondary micro-minerals that formed through the oxidation of the primary sulfide ores within the altered contact zones.
Hiding blue micro crystalline and massive stringhamite throughout matrix. Neat locality example for the species. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Jack Nieburger.
