Stilbite
specimen number:
2062748
location:
Cape d'Or, Nova Scotia, Canada
description: Cape d'Or, Nova Scotia, features rugged Mesozoic basalt cliffs formed by ancient volcanic activity along the Bay of Fundy. Its mining history centers on late 19th and early 20th century commercial extraction efforts targeting native copper veins hosted within the basalt, alongside historical small-scale prospecting. The local rock cavities and vugs frequently host secondary minerals, including well-crystallized specimens of analcime, a common framework silicate mineral belonging to the zeolite family.
A cluster of lustrous stilbite crystals. The largest crystal grouping measures almost 2.0 cm across. In very good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
Size: 4.0 x 3.0 x 2.0 cm (miniature)
