Sphalerite with Quartz, Marcasite
specimen number:
3551042
location:
GP Materials South quarry, Potosi, Washington Co., Missouri, USA
description:
Spectacular Museum size specimen for this locality consisting of a large matrix the top completely covered by sparkling micro crystals of quartz, the slightly reddish in color. Part of the matrix is coated with iridescent crystallized marcasite. Scattered throughout are many spherical clusters of sphalerite to 1.7 cm in diameter. Some chipping is present but I still think in good condition considering the size of the specimen.
Size: 30.0 x 23.0 x 8.0 cm (large-cabinet)
