description: Lustrous black crystal groupings of sphalerite to 3.0 cm in size across the top of this crystallized quartz matrix with calcite and dolomite. This is in really good condition. The specimen comes with several previous labels including one from the Keswick Museum, England. Leadhills was a very important mining district in Scotland, first worked in 1239 and finally closing in 1929.
