The Patch Mine, situated on Quartz Hill near Central City in Gilpin County, Colorado, was one of the most productive gold and silver mining operations in the region. Characterized by its massive open pit known as a glory hole, the site consolidated numerous smaller claims into a large-scale operation during the 20th century. It played an important economic role by sustaining mineral production through the Great Depression before operations ultimately wound down.
