Smithsonite on Dolomite
specimen number:
1691015
location:
Philadelphia Mine, Rush, Marion Co., Arkansas, USA
description:
Very neatly grouped saddle shaped crystals of what were once dolomite to 1.8 cm in size, these kind of stacked off a thin matrix and being replaced by waxy yellow crystallize smithsonite. Very minimal micro-chipping present, this three-dimensional specimen I think is quite neat. Measures 5.0 x 4.0 x 3.0 cm in size. Shows neatly all around. Known locally as Turkey Fat smithsonite, the yellow color likely due to cadmium. Classic Arkansas material collected in the 1970s. Shipping weight: 0.09 pounds.
Size: 5.0 x 4.0 x 3.0 cm (miniature)
