Smithsonite on Dolomite
specimen number:
1691014
location:
Philadelphia Mine, Rush, Marion Co., Arkansas, USA
description: The top side of this 7.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 cm matrix is covered by dolomite crystals to 1.3 cm in size. These are in turn completely coated and partly replaced by waxy yellow crystallize smithsonite. Very little damage along the lower right edge of the piece is seen, I still think in very good condition. Known locally as Turkey Fat smithsonite, the yellow color likely due to cadmium. Classic Arkansas material collected in the 1970s. Shipping weight: 0.19 pounds.
Size: 7.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 cm (small-cabinet)
