Outstanding light pink translucent and lustrous large crystals of smithsonite measuring to 2.2 cm in size across the front of this matrix. These are very large crystals for the species, the specimen is in outstanding condition. The specimen was originally acquired in 1979 through the dealership Mineral Kingdom of Woodmere. The specimen was collected by a Mr. Steyn sometime between 1962 in 1964. The specimen has been figured in both The Mineralogical Record, July, August 2016, and Rocks and Minerals vol. 95.
