Siderite with Chalcopyrite
specimen number:
2062808
location:
Kaiwu Mine, Hezhang Co., Bijie, Guizhou, China
description: The Kaiwu Mine in Hezhang County, Bijie, Guizhou Province, China, is situated within a complex regional geology characterized by carbonate and sedimentary rock formations hosting hydrothermal base metal deposits. Originally worked as a regional commercial metal mine, it gained international attention within the mineral collecting community around 2013 when exceptional specimen-grade mineral associations began entering the global market. Miners and local collectors recovered striking aesthetic combinations from underground operations, most notably lustrous brown siderite blades with brilliant metallic chalcopyrite crystals.
Sharp lustrous crystals of siderite measuring to 2.0 cm in size covering the top of matrix with several golden crystals of chalcopyrite measuring to 1.0 cm in size. In good condition. This would have been collected around the year 2015. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
