Richelsdorfite

specimen number:
2354232

location:
Burrus Mine, Washoe Co., Nevada, USA

description:
Blue masses and micro crystalline richelsdorfite across matrix. Good example for the species.

The Burrus Mine in Washoe County, Nevada, is a historic underground mine situated within regional volcanic rock formations of the Great Basin, where mineralization primarily occurs as brecciated and silicified veins containing silver, copper, and accessory minerals. Historically operated as a small-scale underground producer, the site has gained modern renown among mineral collectors for yielding exceptional micro-specimens of richelsdorfite, a rare secondary copper and calcium arsenate halide mineral that forms striking sky-blue to turquoise crystal clusters inside small vugs.
