Rhodochrosite
specimen number:
2561026
location:
Corner Pocket area, Watercourse Raise, Sweet Home Mine, Alma, Colorado, USA
description: An outstanding large thumbnail specimen with glassy highly translucent deep red rhombohedral crystals of rhodochrosite, the biggest 12.0 centimeters on edge, forming a 3.0 x 2.5 x 1.0 cm grouping. Very slight and sparse micro-chipping present, I think if one discounts this piece due to that they are being extremely picky. Overall I think in excellent condition. A beautiful example from what was known as the corner pocket area in the watercourse raise. Ex Shirley Adrian collection.
Size: 3.0 x 2.5 x 1.0 cm (thumbnail)
