Rhodochrosite
specimen number:
1392096
location:
Montreal mine, Iron Co., Wisconsin, USA
description:
A neat and attractive curving grouping of rhombohedral pink rhodochrosite crystals with a small amount of hematite matrix. This is a superb thumbnail specimen for the species from this old locality closed in 1963. I think in very good condition. The specimen comes with a previous collection label from the Morris Museum in New Jersey. The specimen was figured in The Mineralogical Record, May, June, 2020, page 451, figure 86. It was also on public display at the Cincinnati, 1993 and Denver, 1997 shows.
