Quartz
specimen number:
2062830
location:
Denny Mtn., King Co., Washington, USA
description: Denny Mountain in King County, Washington, features a complex skarn deposit formed by the intrusion of the Miocene Snoqualmie Batholith into older sedimentary rocks. Originally noted by early explorers for iron ore and pigment sources in the mid 1800s, the area later gained prominence among mineral collectors for its diverse skarn and hydrothermal assemblages. Collectors have long targeted the rugged terrain for fine mineral specimens such as epidote, garnet, calcite, and various forms of quartz.
A classic scepter quartz specimen from Washington. Top termination very light purple in color due to inclusions of hematite. The bottom stem of the cluster colorless. This shows good translucency and luster and is in very good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
