Nice scepter quartz crystal example, this with some attached microcline crystals. Complete all around, this is even double terminated with the bottom termination showing multiple terminations. Somewhat unusual. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark. just very slight micro-chipping present on the backside of the top termination. Overall in really good condition.

The Pikes Peak region in Colorado originated as a massive underground magma intrusion called the Pikes Peak batholith, which formed approximately 1.08 billion years ago during the Precambrian period and was later exposed by millions of years of continuous erosion. The area experienced major surface exposure during regional tectonic uplifts, including the creation of the Ancestral Rockies and the later Laramide orogeny that shaped the modern Rocky Mountains. The geology of the batholith is dominated by coarse-grained pink granite, featuring specialized pegmatite pockets and cavities that cooled slowly from late-stage volatile-rich magmas. These pegmatites are globally famous for hosting exceptional mineral cavities containing large crystals of smoky quartz, microcline feldspar variants like amazonite, and topaz.
