description: Coleman's Mine in Garland County, Arkansas, has been active under various operators since commercial exploration began on the site in 1906, gaining prominence during World War II when it was placed under federal control to supply vital electronic-grade material. It is still actively operated today as both a commercial venture and a public digging site, meaning a closing date does not exist. Geologically, the site sits within the Ouachita Mountains quartz belt, where hydrothermal mineral-rich fluids deposited massive crystal veins within folded Paleozoic sedimentary rock formations such as shale and sandstone.
Very aesthetic cluster of crystallized quartz. This has excellent luster and transparency, very aesthetic with one large crystal coming off of the cluster. Perfect all around.
