A solid mass of pink pyroxmangite. This has been cut and polished on one face to show the interior color. A second cabochon example is included as well. The size provided is for the larger piece. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark. He collected the piece in 2024.

The Sunnyside Mine, located in the San Juan Mountains north of Silverton, Colorado, sits within a complex geological environment shaped by ancient volcanic activity and caldera collapse, producing rich epithermal vein systems filled with precious and base metals along fault zones. Mining operations began in the early 1870s and expanded through multiple phases of deep tunneling, technological milling advancements, and recovery from significant setbacks such as the famous 1978 Lake Emma disaster, ultimately operating as one of the region's most productive and enduring lode mines before closing permanently in the early 1990s.
