Pyromorphite with Barite
specimen number:
2023896
location:
Les Farges Mine, Ussel, Correze, Limousin, France
description: Very attractive sparkling yellowish brown mustard colored crystals of pyromorphite to 0.5 cm covering the top of a 5.5 x 3.5 x 3.0 cm crystalline barite matrix. Micro-chipping present but extremely sparse, I find this to be in very good condition. Excellent French classic. Additional information about this specimen/find from a friend who was there as follows: "Most probably, the sample has been collected in September, 1971 during exploration at the 150m level, recoupe 290 N. A large vug (6 m long, 2.5 m high and 1 to 1.5 m wide) was discovered in R290 and the BRGM was recovering the samples. The vug was fully covered by pyromorphite on top of baryte and wulfenite was discretely present mostly on the top of the vug. To note, the cristallizations were remarkedly clean, no need to wash. Shipping weight: 0.25 pounds. Ex Chris and Agatha Galas collection.
Size: 5.5 x 3.5 x 3.0 cm (miniature)
