Yellowish green slightly translucent crystallized prehnite set up on a partial crystal of quartz with minor graphite. This is in really good condition.

The Merelani Hills in Simanjiro, Manyara, Tanzania, famously opened for gemstone mining following the discovery of tanzanite in July 1967, an active mining region that remains operational today without a closing date. Geologically, the area is situated within the Mozambique Belt, consisting of Neoproterozoic metasedimentary rocks like graphite-rich calc-silicate gneisses, schists, and marbles that underwent intense amphibolite-to-granulite facies metamorphism during the East African Orogeny. Within these complex hydrothermal veins and fracture zones, attractive secondary minerals like prehnite form alongside the world-famous vanadium-bearing zoisite (tanzanite).
