A loose colorless lustrous gem crystal of single terminated natrolite. In excellent condition. This would have been collected in the very early 1970s.

The Chimney Rock Quarry in Bridgewater, Somerset County, New Jersey, was originally opened in 1886 by William Haelig to excavate stone for local road construction and remains active today. Geologically situated within the Piedmont province, the quarry cuts through ancient Mesozoic basalt and diabase formations associated with continental rifting and lava flows from the Late Triassic period. Cavities and fractures within these volcanic rocks have produced world-class mineral specimens, most notably exceptional, large, and transparent crystals of natrolite, a hydrated framework silicate mineral belonging to the zeolite group that formed via hydrothermal alteration processes.
