A loose thick grouping of bright lustrous foliated molybdenite crystals with minor native bismuth and quartz. This is in good condition for the species. Nice for this classic locality. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.

Wolfram Camp is a historical mining settlement in Far North Queensland, Australia, established after the discovery of rich rare-metal deposits in 1891 within the Hodgkinson goldfield. The site experienced multiple mining booms and busts driven by global demand for industrial metals, eventually supporting a bustling community before declining into a ghost town with notable heritage-listed processing ruins. Geologically, the area is characterized by pipe-like quartz bodies and greisen-altered margins hosted within the roof zones of intrusive granites of the Ootann Supersuite, which intersect the older sedimentary rocks of the Hodgkinson Formation.
