location:
Rowley Mine, Maricopa Co., Arizona, USA
description: The Rowley Mine in Maricopa County, Arizona, is situated within a major fault zone where mineralized veins cut through Tertiary volcanic and older host rocks. Discovered in 1899, the mine was historically worked for copper, lead, gold, and silver, operating intermittently through the early decades of the twentieth century. While commercial metal production was relatively modest, the site gained international renown among mineral collectors for its exceptionally rich supergene oxidation zone. This zone produced world-class specimens of tabular crystals ranging from honey yellow to deep orange, frequently associated with complex secondary lead and copper species.
Attractive yellow orange micro crystals of acicular mimetite very nice across the top of matrix with minor wulfenite. In good condition. An attractive example for the species at this locality.
