The Pingtouling Mine in Liannan County, Guangdong Province, China, is an oxidized lead and zinc deposit that gained international renown for a major mineral discovery yielded primarily between 2001 and 2002. Geologically, the deposit features highly weathered ore zones where secondary minerals formed through intense oxidation processes within carbonate host rocks. This unique geological environment produced world-class specimens of bright orange and yellow mimetite, along with other secondary species like cerussite. Mining operations for these collector specimens were short-lived, making the site a legendary modern classic in Chinese mineralogy.
