A neatly shaped bulbous green sparkling malachite crystallized stalactite. This is complete all around with no points of attachment and in very good condition. The shape is quite unique, an attractive and unusual example for the species.

Copper mining in the Katanga region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has ancient roots, with modern industrial extraction beginning in 1906 with the formation of the Union Miniere du Haut Katanga. The operations have evolved continuously over the decades and remain fully active today. Geologically, the region forms a major part of the Central African Copperbelt, where world-class copper and cobalt mineral deposits are hosted within Neoproterozoic metasedimentary rocks of the Katangan Supergroup, specifically concentrated in structured fold and thrust belts known as the Lufilian Arc.
