Located in the Yangchun Basin of western Guangdong Province, China (near Yangjiang), the Shilu Mine is a prominent mineral locality with active commercial and collector history spanning modern operations through recent decades, though exact comprehensive opening and closing dates for individual artisanal versus industrial pits are not formally centralized. Geologically, the deposit is classified as a large porphyry-skarn copper-molybdenum system situated within a fault-bounded basin. It formed during the Cretaceous period through intensive magmatic activity and crust-mantle interactions, featuring high-K calc-alkaline granodiorite intrusions that invaded Paleozoic carbonate and sedimentary strata, subsequently producing highly prized secondary copper carbonate minerals such as striking azurite rosettes and botryoidal malachite stalactites.
