Malachite
specimen number:
2063188
location:
Buffalo Ridge Extension, Old Dominion Mine, Globe, Arizona, USA
description: The Buffalo Ridge Extension is a localized mineralized zone within the historic Old Dominion Mine area in the Globe-Miami District of Gila County, Arizona. Geologically, the deposit involves complex faulting systems cutting through Precambrian diabase and Paleozoic sediments, facilitating secondary mineral enrichment. Historically, while the main Old Dominion operations functioned as a massive copper producer from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century, the Buffalo Ridge section has remained a notable site for mineral collectors seeking fine specimen examples of secondary copper minerals like malachite.
Attractive green crystallized malachite very nice across the front of matrix. In great condition. Displays perfectly. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark, who acquired the piece through Evan Jones. This was collected in 1998.
