specimen number:

location:
Bou Trgine, Tirrhist, Anemzi, Agoudim Caidat, Boumia Cercle, Midelt, Draa-Tafilalet, Morocco
description: Located in the High Atlas region of Midelt Province, Morocco, Bou Trgine near Tirrhist is a well-known locality recognized for its interesting geological structures composed of igneous intrusions and skarn-type hydrothermal deposits. Local miners and specimen collectors have targeted the surrounding area for fine mineralization, recovering sharp octahedral crystals and lustrous aggregates of magnetite, a widespread magnetic iron oxide mineral. These occurrences are frequently found alongside minerals like dark andradite garnet and pyroxenes in localized metamorphic contact zones, making the district a notable classic Moroccan locality for aesthetic magnetite hand specimens appreciated across the global mineral collecting community.
Good cabinet sized combination piece with sharp lustrous crystals of magnetite measuring to 2.0 cm in size, most averaging around 0.5 cm. These are scattered across the top of a blocky orthoclase crystal matrix with quartz and minor fluorapatite. This is in good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Jan Erik Larsen.
Size: 11.0 x 10.0 x 6.5 cm (cabinet)
