Hutchinsonite with Galena, Orpiment
specimen number:
9506502
location:
Quiruvilca Mine, La Libertad, Peru
description: Hutchinsonite is a rare thallium bearing mineral. Long known from this locality in Peru, it was often seen as small micro crystals scattered amongst orpiment from material collected at this mine in the 1980s. Within the past year or so a terrific strike of the material has come to light. This current example is very good with many bright lustrous metallic needle like crystals to 0.5 cm in length scattered throughout a matrix with granular crystalline Galena and orange crystallized orpiment. In great condition. This measures 14.0 x 11.0 x 3.0 cm in size.
Size: 14.0 x 11.0 x 3.0 cm (cabinet)
