La Bocona Mine, Cerro las Minitas, Guadalupe Victoria, Durango, Mexico
description: Located in the Guadalupe Victoria region of Durango, Mexico, the La Bocona Mine at Cerro las Minitas is situated within a geologically rich zone known for its complex hydrothermal vein systems and polymetallic skarn deposits. The area features extensive mineralization associated with Tertiary volcanic rocks and intrusive formations, making it a key locality for precious and base metal extraction as well as a notable source for mineral collectors seeking well-crystallized specimens of quartz, sulfides, and associated secondary minerals. Mining history at Cerro las Minitas dates back to historical underground operations targeting silver, lead, and zinc, with La Bocona serving as a prominent site where both historic extraction efforts and modern mineral specimen recovery have taken place.
