Hematite
specimen number:
1281073
location:
N'Chwaning II Mine, Kuruman, Kalahari manganese fields, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
description: The finest hematite specimens known have come from this locality in South Africa. The specimen shown here is outstanding. Thick incredibly lustrous, like mirrors, crystals of hematite to 3.5 cm across are scattered over a 8.0 x 6.0 x 3.5 cm matrix. Very difficult to photograph because of the reflectivity of the crystal faces; I think this better in person than as in the photos. The quality is outstanding. In excellent condition; as good as they get damage-wise. Comes with a custom acrylic display base.
Size: 8.0 x 6.0 x 3.5 cm (small-cabinet)
