Bright lustrous metallic mass of graphite. Good reference example for the species. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.

Located in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, Italy, the Icla-Brutta Comba Mine is situated within the Chisone Valley, a region historically recognized for its complex metamorphism and diverse mineral deposits. Prospecting and mining activity in this area date back centuries, primarily targeting silver, lead, and copper ores embedded in metamorphic host rocks like schist and gneiss. Over time, commercial extraction ceased, but the location gained significant fame among field collectors and mineralogists as a classic Alpine specimen locality. It is especially noted for producing well-formed crystals of various sulfide and secondary minerals, making it a well-documented site in regional Italian mineralogical history.
