Galena with Sphalerite
specimen number:
3651176
location:
Picher Field, Tri-State District, Oklahoma, USA
description:
Extremely bright and lustrous sharp cubic crystals of galena measuring to 2.0 cm on edge across the top of this chert matrix with crystallized sphalerite. Very slight micro-chipping is present, considering the size and age of this piece I think it in great condition. The luster is incredibly good for this mining district, were most of the time the galena is dull. Previous label notes that this was acquired originally from Dick Hauck, who originally acquired it from famous Tri-State mineral dealer Boodle Lane.
