Galena with Quartz
specimen number:
1651276
location:
Krushev Dol mine, Madan, Smolyan, Bulgaria
description:
Brilliant lustrous penetration twinned crystals of galena covering the top of this matrix with quartz. There is some damage present to the quartz crystals, the galena is in very good condition. Many people erroneously refer to this type of twinning for the species as spinel law twinning. This is wrong, these are flattened penetration twins.
