description: The Parker Mine, located near Notre-Dame-du-Laus in the Laurentides region of Quebec, is a historical phlogopite and mineral locality active in the early 1900s. It is globally renowned among mineral collectors for yielding exceptionally well-formed, centimetric black spinel crystals and other silicate minerals frozen within a carbonate-rich matrix. Situated within the Grenville Province geological belt, the site is scientifically valued for its unique silicocarbonatite vein-dikes and associated ultramafic rock assemblages.
A loose crude lustrous crystal of opaque forsterite, this hosting a lustrous small black crystal of octahedral spinel 0.4 cm in size. Collected in 1999. In good condition. Nice thumbnail.
