description: Located in Notre-Dame-du-Laus in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada, the Parker Mine is situated within the Grenville Geological Province, famous for its high-grade metamorphic rocks and skarn deposits. Opened in the early 20th century primarily as a small-scale operation for phlogopite mica, the site quickly became world-renowned among mineral collectors for its exceptional secondary minerals formed through contact metamorphism. The mine is particularly famous for producing sharp, well-formed spinel crystals, large brown zircon crystals, and notable specimens of green apatite and Forsterite, making it a legendary field-collecting locality in Canadian mineralogy.
