description: Earle's Farm, located near Wilberforce in Haliburton County, Ontario, Canada, is a famous mineral collecting site renowned for producing exceptionally fine specimens of fluororichterite set within a calcite matrix. Geologically situated in the Grenville Province of the Canadian Shield, the area features skarn deposits and marble-hosted metamorphic environments where hydrothermal fluids enriched in fluorine altered host rocks. Discovered as a premier collecting locality in the mid-20th century, the farm became a favorite destination for amateur mineral collectors and researchers seeking well-formed, dark brownish-black prismatic crystals of amphibole-group minerals. While no major commercial mining took place at the farm itself, the locality gained international recognition in mineralogy, and field collecting at the site has yielded world-class reference specimens for museums and private collections.
Classic material for this locality, lustrous double terminated black crystals measuring to 3.7 x 2.8 x 1.0 cm in size on matrix. In great condition. The prominent crystal is mostly freestanding and complete all around.
