Located within the Grenville Geological Province of Ontario, Earle's Farm near Wilberforce in Highlands East is a renowned mineral collecting site characterized by ancient Precambrian metamorphic rocks, Grenville marbles, and complex pegmatitic or carbonate veins. The local geology features extensive metasedimentary gneiss and limestone lenses influenced by intense regional metamorphism and metasomatism. Within this setting, the farm became famous among mineralogists for producing exceptional specimens of fluoro-richterite, a rare amphibole group silicate. The fluoro-richterite crystals from this locality typically occur as dark, highly lustrous, prismatic or striated crystals embedded within a contrasting white calcite matrix, formed through high-temperature interactions between fluid-rich volatile components and surrounding carbonate rocks.
