Fluorite
specimen number:
3211052
location:
Macomb, New York, USA
description: Specimen such as this one from this locality are almost never seen whether in a museum or available on the mineral market. This is said to have come out in the late 19th century and had been held within an institution since that time. In really super condition considering the size, these are huge green frosted cubic crystals of fluorite forming a matrix-less cluster. Said to have been handled at one time by the famous dealer George Kunz. I estimate that this weighs around 60 pounds. The photograph is taken on the tailgate of a pickup truck.
Size: 36.0 x 32.0 x 18.0 cm (large-cabinet)
