location:
Dolomite Products Quarry, Walworth, New York, USA
description: The Dolomite Products Quarry in Walworth, New York, is an active industrial crushed-stone operation working in hard Silurian dolostone formations containing fossilized stromatolites. While primarily functioning as a commercial aggregate quarry, it has achieved legendary status among mineral collectors through occasional organized open house events. Collectors prize the site for its exceptionally transparent, water-clear blue fluorite crystals and golden sphalerite specimens found growing within vugs and cavities of the tough host rock.
Ice blue glassy and gemmy cubic crystal of fluorite set on a small amount of matrix. Sharp and in excellent condition. A very attractive thumbnail for this New York classic. The largest dimension is measured from one corner across on a diagonal, the other two dimensions are given on edge.
