Tormiq Valley, located in the Roundu District of Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, is not a traditional industrial mine with official opening and closing ledgers; rather, it is an active, valley-scale mineral field worked artisanally by local collectors since it gained prominence on the international market in the early 1990s. Geologically, the valley sits within the rugged Haramosh Mountains along a major tectonic collision zone near the Indus River. Its steep terrain features a complex mix of granite, amphibolite, ultramafic lenses, and metasedimentary host rocks. Intense tectonic activity and fluid movement around the regional thrust systems created open-space fissures and Alpine-type clefts, allowing mineral-rich hydrothermal solutions to deposit exceptional pocket-grown crystal specimens rather than massive ore bodies.
