The Crystal Lode pegmatite near Fulford in Eagle County, Colorado, is a small prospect and mineral locality with exact historical opening and closing dates largely unrecorded, though small-scale prospecting activity in the historic Fulford mining district generally dates from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. Geologically, the deposit consists of a granitic pegmatite body hosted within the complex Precambrian metamorphic and igneous terrain of the Southern Rocky Mountains, featuring coarse-grained intrusive pockets containing quartz and feldspar. The locality is best known among mineral collectors for producing fine-quality, gemmy fluorapatite crystals that formed in these late-stage vapor or fluid-rich pocket cavities within the pegmatite matrix.
