The Reese farm locality in St. Lawrence County, New York, historically associated with agricultural land usage and also known as the Bush farm, sits within the Grenville Province, a globally recognized belt of ancient Precambrian rocks. Geologically, the area is defined by deeply eroded and regionally metamorphosed metasedimentary formations, prominently featuring ancient marble sequences and calc-silicate rocks that underwent intense thermal and structural evolution over a billion years ago. Within these complex metamorphic pockets, localized hydrothermal activity and regional tectonic pressures facilitated the crystallization of rare mineral specimens. The site is world-famous among mineral collectors as a classic locality for distinct brown or amber crystals of fluor-uvite, a calcium-rich member of the tourmaline group that frequently displays a characteristic pale-yellow fluorescence under shortwave ultraviolet light.
