The specimen comes with a custom display base. This weighs 30 g. A beautiful gem crystal. The specimen comes with a previous label from the Alton collection.

The Pederneira Mine in Minas Gerais, Brazil, is a world-renowned granite pegmatite deposit situated within the Eastern Brazilian Pegmatite Province. Geologically formed during late-stage igneous intrusions, the pegmatite features large, well-developed miarolitic pockets lined with quartz, albite, and mica, which provided optimal space for gem-quality mineral growth. Mining operations at Pederneira expanded significantly in the late twentieth century, evolving from informal specimen prospecting into sophisticated underground mechanical mining designed to carefully extract delicate pocket contents without fracture. The mine is legendary among collectors for producing spectacular elbaite tourmaline specimens, famous for their sharp termination, brilliant luster, and striking color zoning, often featuring vibrant green caps over pink cores, blue tops, or dramatic rocket-style multi-color crystals attached to pristine matrix.
