Dyscrasite with Arsenic
specimen number:

location:
Uranium Mine No. 21, Dubno, Pribram, Czech Republic
description: Uranium Mine No. 21, located near Dubno in the Pribram district of the Central Bohemian Region, Czech Republic, is situated within a world-famous hydrothermal vein deposit formed along the contact zone of the Central Bohemian Pluton. Operational during the Cold War era under strict Soviet supervision in the mid-to-late 20th century, the shaft yielded substantial quantities of pitchblende alongside rich primary hydrothermal mineralization. While primarily established for high-grade uranium extraction, the mine became exceptionally renowned among mineral collectors for producing magnificent specimens of wire native silver, calcite, dyscrasite, and various silver sulfosalts embedded in carbonate gangue. Although underground operations ceased in the 1990s, fine specimens retrieved during active mining continue to be highly sought after in international mineral collections today.
Semi lustrous metallic gray botryoidal native arsenic very rich and hosting gray crystalline dyscrasite. Minor calcite present as well. Good old time example. The specimen comes with several previous collection labels and dates to the 1970s.
