description: Located in the Otavi Mountainland near Grootfontein, Namibia, the Berg Aukas Mine is a world-renowned deposit hosted within Neoproterozoic carbonate rocks and karst collapse breccias. Discovered in 1913, commercial mining operated primarily from 1920 until 1978, producing significant quantities of zinc, lead, and vanadium ores. The site is internationally famous among mineral collectors for producing world-class mineral specimens, particularly dark, highly lustrous descloizite crystals, along with exceptional fine-grained smithsonite, willemite, and vanadinite.
Choice grouping of lustrous descloizite crystals without matrix. Complete all around. Minimal damage present, this still in good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
