Cuprite
specimen number:
3451087
location:
East side of West Pit, Ray mine, Pinal Co., Arizona, USA
description:
The front side of this matrix is mostly covered by rich deep red acicular crystallized cuprite, the variety known as a chalcotrichite. In great condition. Previous label from the collection of Mark Hay who originally acquired the piece from Evan Jones who acquired it out of the collection of Leo Quinn. The label further notes that the piece was collected around 1954 and that the location within the ratepayer was provided by the mine geologist Bob Williamson. A lot of neat history on this one, an excellent example.
