Chrysocolla on Malachite pseudomorph
specimen number:
4471068
location:
Lupoto Mine, Kakumba, Kipushi, Haut-Katanga, DR Congo
description:
Prismatic terminated crystals of what were most likely azurite are measuring to 2.0 cm in length, now replaced by green malachite and coated with blue crystalline chrysocolla. One can argue what the first species was, as gypsum or barite of course are other possibilities. The specimen is in great condition.
