Cerussite
specimen number:
2451008
location:
Lescure Mine, Mayres, Thueyts, Ardeche, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France
description: Colorless jack-straw crystals of cerussite freestanding and measuring to 2.0 cm in length over the front side of this 8.0 x 8.0 x 5.0 cm matrix. In excellent condition. This French locality is famous for the fine cerussite crystals that have been produced. The mine closed in 1951, but during the 1990s some very fine specimens, probably this one included, were collected. All of the mine tunnels and adits are now collapsed and not accessible. This one is really too fragile to ship; if you are interested please contact us about a possible delivery at a show. Ex Jordi Povill collection.
Size: 8.0 x 8.0 x 5.0 cm (small-cabinet)
Collection: Jordi Povill
